Focus on Excellence in Early Childhood Jewish Education
What makes a school excellent? What makes a Jewish pre-school excellent? How do we measure success?
Working together with Jewish education programs, we are developing a set of guidelines that will characterize an excellent Jewish preschool.
Creating these benchmarks has the potential to help schools identify their strengths and weaknesses and work in the pursuit of excellence. The program will also serve as a guide for parents, community leaders and funders as we work to maximize the potential of Early Childhood Jewish Education.
The Focus on Excellence tool is currently being piloted in three programs: Gan Israel Preschool in San Rafael, Helen Diller Family Preschool / JCCSF, and Peninsula Temple Sholom Preschool in Burlingame.

This project is made possible by a grant from the Jewish Community Endowment Kohn Fund of the SF-based Jewish Community Federation.
