Description: The Bureau of Jewish Education creates vibrant, effective, and engaging Jewish learning throughout the San Francisco Bay Area Jewish community. The BJE of San Francisco's NESS initiative needs a PART-TIME (20 hours) ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.
It is the BJE's mission to build capacity among lay leaders and professional educators enabling them to create and maintain a system of excellent Jewish education in synagogues, day schools, early childhood programs, and informal educational settings. BJE collaborates with visionary funders, agency partners, and community leaders to serve our thriving community of thousand of students, families, and educators.
Nurturing Excellence in Synagogue Schools (NESS) is a three-year, whole-school, on-site intervention, custom-designed to meet the needs of each synagogue school. NESS is a project of the Bureau of Jewish Education, modeled on a program created by the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education in Philadelphia, and made possible through the generous support of The Jewish Community Endowment Fund, the Annual Campaign of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Koret Foundation, and PELIE.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, be a team player and a self-starter with the ability to effectively manage several concurrent tasks, prioritize, and handle short deadlines. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential. This position reports to the NESS Director and is responsible for:
- Providing logistical and administrative support to the Director
- Managing calendars, coordinating meetings, scheduling appointments
- Arranging phone/video conferencing (attentive to alternate technologies and systems)
- Assisting with correspondence and phone calls
- Maintaining accounts payable/receivable and tracking expenses of program
- Drafting surveys and updating data information
- Prepping meetings, set-up and clean up
- Recording meeting minutes, transcribing, editing and disseminating
- Copying, filing, and other tasks requested
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and sensitivity in dealing with people
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Computer expertise and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, data
management, the internet, and social networking
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize demands and handle short deadlines
- Plans and utilizes time effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, and with on- and off-site consultants
- Four year college degree
- 3 years' work experience
- Familiarity with Jewish customs and rituals; synagogue life is nice but not necessary
- A sense of humor, self-awareness and a passion for learning are essential
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Description:
- Manage all marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts.
- Design, implement, and facilitate annual marketing plan
- Serve as PR representative to raise the BJE's profile in the community
- Work side-by-side with Development Director to write fundraising letters, organize donor cultivation events, and create marketing materials for fundraising.
- Write copy for marketing collateral. Craft brochures, programs, media kits.
- Create and launch advertising campaigns, oversee design & placement in Jewish and secular media.
- Oversee design, production, and printing of all BJE projects.
- Write press releases and speeches, pitch stories, work closely with lay leaders and agency executives to create strategic alliances.
- Manage the new BJE web site
- Create and write BJE Buzz E-newsletter
- Maintain marketing database - mailing lists, advertising, event information.
Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate degree required. Degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years in a leadership marketing position, preferably as director of marketing. Experience working in the Jewish community. A proven track record in developing and implementing marketing and advertising plans.
Required skills: Must be a self-starter, highly organized, creative, team player, and able to work well in the non-profit sector, especially in the Jewish community, and at all levels in the organization. Excellent writing, event planning, and interpersonal skills are vital. Must possess management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Must be skilled in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Web publishing proficiency a plus.
