The
Helen Diller Family Awards of Excellence in Jewish Education were
established in January 2001 to recognize exceptional educators at
institutions offering pre-collegiate programs in Jewish education. The
Jewish Community Endowment Fund presents the winners with a $10,000
award and $2,500 for their nominating institution.
This year's award winners are:
Congregational or Community School: Sacha Kopin, Contra Costa Midrasha and Temple Sinai Religious School
Day School: Shirley Goldstein, Yavneh Day School and Marni Shapiro, Brandeis Hillel Day School - Marin
Early Childhood Education: Patricia Perez, JCCSF Helen Diller Family Preschool
Informal Education: Emily Scheinberg, The Contemporary Jewish Museum
The Harold Grinspoon Foundation and Jewish Life Network/Steinhardt Foundation
The
Harold Grinspoon Foundation and Jewish Life Network/Steinhardt
Foundation partner with local agencies and federations throughout North
America to recognize, honor and support outstanding classroom Jewish
educators. The Bureau of Jewish Education and the SF-based Jewish
Community Federation are the selected local partners.
This year's award winner Is:
Gabi Lazar, 4th grade lead teacher, weekday Torah teacher and Israel Education consultant, Congregation Emanu-El, San Francisco.
2007 JEWISH COMMUNITY FEDERATION AWARD OF EXCELLENCE for Agency Staff Member of the Year

2007 ZISOVICH AWARD FOR HOLOCAUST EDUCATION
BJE's very own Yaron Lipschitz, on behalf of Shalhevet
The Legacy Heritage Innovation Project will award grants of up
to $30,000 to synagogues which on a regular basis are integrating
adult, family, and children's education into congregational Shabbat
practice, developing models and "best practices" which might be
replicated or adapted for use by other congregations.
Grants were renewed this year for Congregations Rodef Sholom and Netivot Sholom.
A new Grant was awarded to Congregation Sha'ar Zahav.
